20 Years of the Photo Gallery | From the Collection
The exhibition will feature photographs by contemporary photographers who have exhibited their work in the Photo Gallery since its opening in 2004.
Future Fragments
The exhibition Future Fragments is based on Þorgerður Ólafsdóttir's artistic research project, where she ponders over phenomena related to the Anthropocene as well as our notion of cultural and natural heritage.
Picturing a Nation: Capturing the Founding of the Republic in 1944
The National Museum of Iceland and the National Film Archive of Iceland have joined forces for an exhibition about the events of May and June 1944 that lead to the founding of the Republic of Iceland on June 17th.
The Lögrétta Valances
On the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Iceland, in collaboration with Þingvellir National Park, the National Museum of Iceland will display valances that allegedly hung in Lögrétta (Court of Legislature) at Þingvellir in the late 18th century.
