Hundreds of songs were transmitted in Icelandic manuscripts from the 15th to the 18th century, but few of them have until now been available in reliable editions for performers and others interested in the history of Icelandic music. The musicologist Árni Heimir Ingólfsson has collected 40 songs from these manuscripts, which will be published in autumn 2025 by the book publisher Bjartur.

To celebrate this new publication, Árni Heimir will discuss the history of several of the songs, his research into their origins, and the challenges involved in preparing a practical edition. He will also play music examples where the pieces come alive in first-rate performances by singers and instrumentalists.

The book will be for sale at a special discounted price and light refreshments will be served.
