Þjóðsögukistan - Story time and drawing class

Ingibjörg Fríða, host of the popular family podcast Þjóðsögukistan on RÚV, tells folktales for children and families in connection with the exhibition Ristur by illustrator Eysteinn Þórðarson. Following this, Eysteinn will lead a drawing workshop, inspired by creatures from folktales.
What happens if you ride a horse with hooves that turn backwards? Who was Kráka and why did she want a twelve-year-old shark for dinner? The answers lie in the folktales that Ingibjörg Fríða will tell. Eysteinn Þórðarson's work, Ristur, is displayed in the National Museum's café. He bases his imagery on characters and events in Icelandic folktales. The method that Eysteinn uses to create the images is called wood engraving, which is one of the oldest methods known for printing coloured illustrations.
The event will be held in Icelandic. Admission is free.
